Karnataka Resignation Gambit EARLY this week Karnataka's chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde tendered his resignation and contrived to throw his party colleagues and Karnataka legislators into a state of utter confusion,. While the move was certainly sudden and unexpected, it was far from being a precipitate gesture. The resignation is ostensibly a response to the high court judgment on the arrack bottling contract, a demonstration of what value-based politics is all about. However, quite obviously, Hegde, with accustomed sagacity, has turned a somewhat dicey situation to his political advantage.
