Forever Semi-feudal?
K BALAGOPAL cannot but feel elated (EPW, August 9) that A R Desai, the most well known Indian Trotskyist and a widely respected activist-academic, is almost literally spending his life in anthologising the vast wealth of relevant documents on agrarian struggles in India, pre-Independence and post-Independence. For the issue is so close to his heart that, as he himself candidly puts it, "there is nothing in the world as fascinating as the agrarian history and politics of India".
