GNLF Agitation 'Political' Approach?
ON the face of it it is difficult to fault the stated demands of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) which is agitating for the creation of a separate Gorkhaland comprising the present Darjeeling district and adjoining areas. The demands of the agitation, especially as articulated in the GNLF's public pronouncements, do appear reasonable; as also the related grievance over Clause 7 of the Indo-Nepal treaty of 1950, especially the point that the Clause has created an avoidable confusion about two distinctly separate categories
