of services in employment increased much more strikingly, in the US from 61.8 peT cent to 66,7 per cent and in Britain from 54.5 per cent to 63.5 per cent. No doubt, these figures show clearly that services comprise the dynamic sector in these economies. But let us not forget that it is also a sector with more than average labour-intensity and furthermore that the sector is tending to be more, not less, labour-intensive. True, the labour increasingly employed in the services sector may have to be more and more skill-intensive but that does not quite detract from the significance of the earlier observation.
