Medical Education- Do We Need More Doctors
Tax Raids Not Cricket NOTHING serves to elucidate better the true nature of our polity and its articulate elite than the hue and cry over the tax raids organised by the Union Finance Ministry in the recent past on some of the top brass of the big business in the country. Denounced as 'state terror', 'intolerable violation' of the sanctity and privacy of the home and so on in the Press and from platforms, these raids or 'investigations', to use the word preferred by the Prime Minister, are being run down for "spreading nervousness among the business community which feels it is at the mercy of the tax inspectors". Boiling anger over this "steady encroachment on civil liberty'1 has prompted many an armoured knight of privilege and power to tilt his lance against the growing Leviathan of the police state in India.
