Scheduled Castes And Tribes The Lefts Lost Role
NOW that the CPI and the CP1(M) have ar-rived at some measure of agreement on "the modalities of functioning of the Central Co-ordination Committee of the two parties" and also decided "to contact other secular opposition parties with a view to develop-ing a common movement against the econo-mic and budgetary policies of the govern-ment", the cliche-ridden sniping by one party at the other should better be suspended. While really serious debates without the un-necessary pejoratives will have to grow, mere assertions of one party's bona fides by negating the same claim of the other will hardly convince anyone beyond the circle of the faithfuls, since neither has much to justify such claims, viewed against the back-ground of the growing crises in the coun-try, economic, political and social.
