The state government claims that about 50 per cent of the workers engaged in the coir industry have been brought into the co-operative fold under its heavily subsidised scheme for the purpose. The number of co-operative societies formed under the scheme is put at 466. Hence, while amending the Husk Control Order, the interests of these co-operatives cannot be overlooked.
