Drug Policy in Limbo THE tussle between the lobbies of Indian companies and that of multinational corporations is most clearly evident in the case of the drug industry. The Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Veerendra Patil, even admitted in the Lok Sabha on April 15 that the long expected new drug policy is being delayed due to lobbies of manufacturers working at cross purposes. There was no unanimity in the recommendations of the three working groups set up by the Ministry to examine various aspects of the policy.
