How Not to Regulate Stock Exchanges THE stock market has been very much in the news of late, more particularly since the presentation of the Union Budget which imparted a new dimension to the bullish fervour that had already assumed rather disturbing proportions. With its unbounded optimism fully vindicated by the fiscal strategy spelt out by the Union Finance Minister and emboldened by the lavish tributes paid by the entire spectrum of market economy advocates to V P Singh for his 'epoch making' Budget, the stock market made a further big dash, necessitating emergency meetings by the market authorities to tighten the regulatory measures and deal with the emerging situation.
