Maharashtra-Unstable Arrangement

Maharashtra THE Congress(I) government to be formed in Maharashtra, following this week's Assembly election results, is very likely to be an unstable one. From a massive strength of 215 in the outgoing House the number of ML As elected this time on the party's ticket is only 159. The present lead is a slender one in the House of 288. The 42 per cent of votes polled by the Con- gress(I) in the Assembly contest was almost a ten point drop from the support received in the Lok Sabha contest about three months ago.
