Fertiliser Pricing Policy-Some Issues

Some Issues N Vittal IN our strategy to maintain self sufficiency in food production, fertiliser plays an important part. As against the production of 151 million tonries in 1983-84, we have to reach a production target of 225 million tonnes by the year 2000 AD. In achieving the increased food production, a contribution of more than 80 per cent is to come from the use of chemical fertilisers.
