PRICES Uneasy Portent THE rate of inflation, as measured by the Economic Advisers wholesale price index, was 8.1 per cent on a point to point basis in the first eight months ' (April-November 1983) of the 1983-84 fiscal year compared to a smaller rise of 4.5 per cent in the comparable period of 1982-83, The movements in wholesale and consumer prices in the first eight months of 1983-84 and 1982-83 are indicated in Table 1. It can be seen from the Table that the average monthly rate of in-- crease this year worked out to 1 per cent as against a smaller rate of 0.6 per cent last year.
