'Change' and 'Correction'? Romesh Thapar SOMETHING terrible is happening in Assam. The headlines in the press, and the daily killings, are traumatic enough, but report has it that the full truth will shatter even those wretched time-servers who support the holding of an illegal election. We have as a result of inept political management moved from smouldering disaffection to an angry upsurge. The election is a macabre farce. It is bound to be followed by martial law with all its inevitable repercussions. And, then, we will have a hostile base in the North-East.
