TEXTILES Imports Undermine Rayon Industry (By a Special Correspondent) THE man-made fibre industry has been assigned an important role in meeting the clothing needs of a growing population- This is largely because cotton alone cannot meet the industry's ex panding fibre requirements and partly because consumers are showing increasing preference for mixed and man-made fibre fabrics. Despite the decline in the per capita availability of cloth over the years, the share of mixed and man-made fibre fabrics has been on the increase. But the man-made fibre industry has by no means been having an easy time. Its difficulties have, in fact, been growing with time. Units engaged in the manufacture of non-ceilulosic fibres
