More recently, documents released showed how the CIA used 'anticancer research' as a cover for its behaviour alteration studies. In an experiment at Georgetown University, the CIA tested anti-cancer drugs as knockout substances and incapacitating agents. One document indicated that 'a pool of subjects' would be available in order to evaluate the anti-carcinogenic effects of various compounds. The pool of subjects consisted of terminal cancer patients who had no idea that they were being used as guinea pigs in a CIA drug project.
