BARELY two weeks ago the Union Cabinet was reported to have rejected the Industry Ministry's proposal to raise the cement retention price to compensate manufacturers for rise in production costs. Now reports have it that partial decontrol of cement is really on the cards. Both the proposal to raise the retention price as well as that to institute partial decontrol follow the recommendations of the Cement Development and Price Review Committee of the Bureau of Industrial Costs and Prices.
