India in a Changing World
I SUPPOSE we have to suspend judgment about Indira Gandhi's external posturings until she has completed her promised visit to the Soviet Union, If, on the surface, it looks as if that old actor, Ronald Reagan, has given her a feel of friendship in his loneliest hour, we can easily assume that an equally lonely operator like Leonid Brezhnev will do the same. Where does all this pretence at cordiality and understanding get us? Are we any nearer our crucial objective of defusing our confrontations with our neighbours, particularly Pakistan and China?
