Even so the govenrment had no option but to increase the issue prices of wheat from government stocks for public distribution and roller flour mills, The government is committed to reducing the budgetary subsidies as part of its policy and the IMF loan conditions. Since the procurement prices of wheat had been increased; it was necessary to increase the issue prices as well. It may be useful to note in this context that since last year, the increases in issue prices have been somewhat more than the increases in procurement prices.
