Ostensibly concerned with the future of unhappy Afghanistan, the influential Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister Firyubin was on a critical assessment visit to Islamabad evenas someone in Washington dispatched the tough-talking Jeane Kirkpatrick, US representative in the United Nations, to tell fndira Gandhi that the US does not care a hoot about what other people think of its actions, and that if she wants armaments to counter Pakistan she had better ask for them.
