Operation Flood and Feedstuffs THE article "Impact of Increased Dairy Productivity on Farmers' Use of Feedstuffs" by Tushar Shah and others (August 16, 1980) puts into proper perspective the debate initiated by Surender Singh in his article "Opera- lion Flood 11: Constraints and Implications" (October 27, 1979). 1 feel that the point made by Tushar Shah and others regarding the propriety of using 'scientific feeding rates' for the estimation of the requirement of feed- stuffs for the country's bovine stock is valid. The authors have demonstrated quite clearly that the estimation of the requirements on the basis of what they call 'economic feeding rate' does indeed change the picture entirely.
