The problem remains: what can Congress(I) do after dismissing the state government since the mere imposition of President's rule, while quite satisfactory in the short run, cannot keep contending Congressmen in the state satisfied for long. An alternative government is unlikely as the party's strength in the present Assembly cannot 'grow' in the manner of the Congress (I) legislature party in Assam. Besides, given the fact that the Left Front government has been entrenched for nearly five years in the state, there is no guarantee that the whole paraphernalia for rigging can be reproduced as successfully as it was done the last time the Congress came to power in West Bengal.
