Many-Sided Expansion

Many-Sided Expansion Hansavivek UNION CARBIDE INDIA is further expanding its activities. It has submitted a proposal to the government for utilisation of off-shore gas. This proposal, if approved by government and implemented, will result in increasing production of ethylene at the Trombay plant. The company has received a 'latter of intent' for manufacture of 200 tonnes of methabenzthiazuron and 50 tonnes of propoxur per annum. These two new pesticides will extend the range of MlC-based pesticides that can be manufactured at the Bhopal facility. The letter of intent' for the facilities at Visakhapatnam for processing 5,500 tonnes of marine products has been converted into an industrial licence. The government has also approved the company's proposal for setting up a joint venture facility in Nepal for manufacture of batteries.
