The Youth Congress in West Bengal is "an organisation of 'goondas' and antisocial elements. All types of hoodlums and opportunists have joined it. Its president Mr Somen Mitra, has some base among the 'youths' described abpve, but commands no respect". The, Congress is "a faction-ridden organisation having no leader of the stature of Jyoti Basu, to inspire confidence among people". The report acknowledges that as thingstand, the Congress party is not happily placed to replace the Left front administration. ,.
