'The Indian Ethos' Romesh Thapar NOW that a somewhat energetic press has been revealing that we burn brides who do not bring a dowry, rape girls particularly if they belong to a lower caste, and blind undertrials to finish them off as criminals for ever, I think that we have been sufficiently roused to realise that talk about a unique Indian ethos is a lot of ,crop. The whole nation needs to take a good at itself. At this moment of, truth, we should not be content with issuing statements of denunciation. We are all guilty. And the 'prominent citizens' in Bhagalpur who support the police brutality are standing proof.
