A Comment Upendranath Roy REVIEWING the Seventh Lok Sabha Ajit Roy observes that faced with the threat of authoritarianism "there may be a temptation to review the all-in unity of the anti-Congress(I) opposition from the Jan Sangh to the CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML). This would be a mistake... Only by working out a programme of all-in left unity on an independent platform can the Left move forward towards bringing about a radical shift in the correlation of forces on the national scale. This is the key strategic task facing the Left in India today". The observation is correct in so far as it goes but leaves many things ambiguous
