The concerns of a tiny ruling elite are limited. Gossip? Yes, but now it's about the goings-on in the tragedy-hit 'royal family". Policy-making? Hardly, except that there are imitative noises like Maggie Thatcher's about 'freeing' the economy. Politicking? Sordid as ever, with intense speculation about Indira Gandhi's likely 'tilts', whatever the concerned area. Corruption? More rampant than ever. Prices? Soaring upwards, and daily.
