WESTERN EUROPE-Shadow of Afghanistan

Germany has recently suggested that the Soviet Union, the US, China, India, Pakistan and Iran should guarantee the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-alignment of Afghanistan. This view is understood to have been reiterated by Schmidt during his talks with Indira Gandhi and Zia-ul Haq in Belgrade on the occasion of President Tito's funeral.
