Many-Faceted Expansion
Hansavivek DHARAMSI MORARJI CHEMICAL is developing production of new chemicals and has started production of Re- sorcinol at the factory taken on lease from Tolue-Chem Industries, Raroda. This chemical product is mainly used by the tyre industry. The research and development division is working on a number of other chemical products, Meanwhile, the company has installed benzene sulphonyl chloride and thiophe- uol plants at Roha. The pilot plant for thionyl chloride, based on knowhow from National Chemical Laboratory, has been in operation for sometime. The company has secured a mining lease from government of MP for mining of bauxite in Balaghat district. Bauxite is one of the raw materials required by the company for manufacture of alumina sulphate. The company received an industrial licence for expanding production capacity of single superphosphate by 66,000 tonnes per annum at Kum- hari in MP, The expansion has been completed and the factory will work at increased capacity during this year. In order to contain pollution at the plant due to manufacture of superphosphate, the company is setting up manufacturing capacity for fluorine chemicals and silica compounds. Production of sodium silico fluoride has already commenced, The company has also received a registration certificate for manufacture of 1,500 tonnes of thionyl chloride at Boha, Dining 1979, the project division completed installation and commissioning of a sulphuric acid plant each for Albright Morarji and Pandit and Bokaro Steel and a sodium tripolyphosphate plant for Hindustan Lever. It has entered into contracts with other parties for supply of technical knowhow for manufacture of sulphuric acid.
