UTTAR PRADESH Fizzling Out of Traders' Agitation K R Krishna Gandhi THE traders' agitation in Uttar Pradesh which at one stage looked like becoming a major threat to the state government has fizzled out for the time being. The threatened 'Bharat Bandh' on June 5 by the UP Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal (an organisation of the traders of UP only recently formed) turned out to be a fiasco after the compromise between the government and a section of traders. The traders' rally in Lucknow on the same day which was proposed to be converted to a meeting to be addressed by the chief minister did not take place at all. In the Ravindralaya Hall where after quite a bit of confusion a meeting was held, the leadership was sharply divid ed and DO future programme of action was announced. The 10-day state wide agitation thus ended on a note of confusion.
