The Coalition Idea Romesh Thapar THE internal crisis that continues to weaken and destabilise the Janata governments in the northern states is now taking on a character which makes it necessary to question the viability of this mess of a party. Over several months, we have been trying to convince ourselves that the five constituents of the Janata "party" will manage a working partnership and fuse into a single organisation before the next general elections. Even the President has spoken of the "miracle" of the Janata party's existence. By the, looks of it, all this theorising is about to explode in our faces.
