Losses Carried Forward Hansavivek PREMIER AUTOMOBILES is explor- ing possibilities of production of a new model of car incorporating the latest technological improvements including optimum fuel economy. It is also attempting to produce a diesel engine car. Meanwhile, it is experimenting to improve fuel economy on the existing cars by design changes in the engine as well as use of higher octane fuel. With demand for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles having improved considerably, the company stepped up and maintained the higher production till November last when labour hest erupted at all its three factors and brought down output sharply. According to the management, inter- union rivarly has been responsible for the labour trouble. During the major part of the year ended June 1978, the company's operations were adversely affected by uncertainty in supplies from the ancillary industry arising out of labour problems at the suppliers' end.
