T V Satyamurthy The complex role that is presently being played by China in international relations has its roots deeply imbedded in Chinese history. Throughout this history, a great deal of importance was attached to China's relationship with the rest of the world; but it was not until the revolutionary movement launched by the Chinese Communist Party in the 1920s that attention was given to the question of the inter-relationship between the construction of socialism in China and the role of China in international relations.
