The company's collaboration agreement with Bayer of West Germany for the vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) project has been approved by the Central government and negotiations for a loan are in progress with the financial institutions. With the establishment of these two projects, the product-mix of the company will be further diversified. Products made on the pilot plant have been test-marketed and have been well received. Research work on the manufacture of styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) resins, cation and anion exchange resins is also continuing. Besides, two new research projects have been undertaken. One concerns the increased production of divinylbenzene and the other is related to the cracking of ethylbenzene to styrene at higher efficiency. With a view to meeting its full requirements of additional working capita! and reducing dependence on deposits from public and loans from shareholders, the company proposes to make a 'rights' issue of debentures of an aggregate face value upto Rs 2 crores, subject to the consent of the Controller of Capital Issues.
