However, many teachers have already received notices of termination or demotion and by the time the negotiations reopen, it is more than likely that a good many of the teachers will already have lost their present jobs. As in the case of teachers already retrenched, it will be far more difficult to get any hearing from the authorities ex post facto. Moreover, once the separation of the college teachers into those in junior colleges and those in the degree colleges is completed, each of these groups of teachers will have much less bargaining strength with the authorities. This is inevitably going to weaken the teachers' movement in the state and in the country.
