ELECTRONICS Plan without Perspective THE Electronics Commission has released a Ten Year Perspective Report' which projects the investment required lor the electronics industry and the resulting production in the Fifth and Sixth Plan periods. A production target of Rs 8,993 crores has been set for the period 1975-84 with an estimated investment of Rs 698 crores. When even the Fifth Plan for the economy as a whole is still to be finalised, preparing a Ten-Year Perspective Report for a particular industry may bear testimony to the industriousness of the Information Planning and Analysis Group PAG) of the Electronics Commission, the whole purpose of such a separate exercise may be regarded as questionable.
