even this agitation, which is not remembered by many now, has left behind some notions which have survived. One such notion seems to be about the "scale" of corruption. After the fall of the Congress ministry headed by Chimanbhai Patel (against whom the agitation was directed) came President's rule. That was revoked when a Janata Front ministry was installed after the elections. That ministry too fell, and the state has since then been again under President's rule. Preparations are now going on for the installation of a 'popular' ministry of the Congress. In this connection, commenting on the former disgraced chief minister Chimanbhai, Hitendra Desai has said that Chimanbhai Patel was 'extravagantly corrupt'.
