With Independent Foreign Loan Hansavivek BALLARPUR INDUSTRIES continues to expand and diversify its activities. It has on hand a big newsprint project. The basis of its financing has since been changed, and government has in principle permitted the company to negotiate a foreign exchange loan from overseas to meet the total financial requirements of the project. The company is also negotiating with the Government of Tamil Nadu for setting up the titanium complex in that state. Meanwhile, the capital goods licence for expanding capacity of the caustic soda/ chlorine plant at Karwar, from 100 to 150 tonnes per day has been secured and steps to implement the project are under way. The company is awaiting permission to step up capacity of the proposed sodium tripolyphosphate plant from 10,000 to 24,000 tonnes per annum. The proposal to acquire 51 per cent of the share capital of Jg Glass Industries is under consideration of government. The proposed scheme to invest in a joint venture, to be established in Dubai for the storage and distribution of hydrochloric acid, has been deferred for the time being. A new company, 'P T Saraswati Bhakti Coated Papers', has been incorporated as a joint venture in Indonesia; Ballar' pur will invest in this an equivalent of Rs 90 lakhs
