THE government lias, through a bill passed by Parliament this week, extended by one year, till the end of June 1977, the impounding of additional dearness allowance and wages. Under the scheme introduced in 1974, wage and salary earners are required to compulsorily deposit the whole of additional wages and salaries and one-half of additional dearness allowance, This was part of a package of anti-inflationary measures which also included a ceiling on dividend distribution by companies and a compulsory deposit scheme for those with net annual income exceeding Rs 15,000.
