In effect the GR of May 6 and the guidelines of May 13 accept the inevitability of retrenchment of teachers and seek only to make retrenchment more 'orderly' and 'efficient'. The RECENTLY the Maharashtra government announced a change of policy with regard to the distribution of scarce raw materials to industrial units. Earlier raw materials used to be distributed between the developed and the backward districts of the state in the Proportion of 60 per cent to the developed districts and 40 per cent to the backward ones. The proportions have now been reversed; 60 per cent of raw materials will now go to the backward districts and only 40 per cent to the developed districts.
