The latter constitutes, as it were, the ' understructure', disciplining the Superstructure' consisting of inter-state relations in the economic, cultural and political spheres. In the relations between a global power like the United States and a middle power like India, three strategic policies are open to the global power: containment, satellisation, and accommodation.
