He maintained that he continued to be the vice-chancellor and, in that capacity, accepted the resignation of Chandele. He directed another official to take over as registrar. Chandele, whose services stood terminated, contended that Chauhan was not empowered to accept his resignation as he had ceased to be the vice-chancellor.
