An attempt has been made here to review the pre-election scene in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The purpose is to construct different scenarios of the probable election results on the basis of electoral trends over time, to assess strengths and weaknesses of different parties and to examine changes in voter alignments and attitudes and their implications for party support.
