OVERDUES of co-operative credit agencies have received so much publicity that the problem would seem to be peculiar to co-operative banks alone. In fact, overdues of commercial banks are concealed by the cash-credit systems. Overdues are, of course, a serious problem which threatens the existence of; the co-operative structure in some parts or the country. As the Reserve Bank's Study Team on overdues of co-operative credit institutions has underscored, in some states "the overdues have assumed such alarming proportions that the co-operative credit institutions have so stagnated as not to be relied upon to provide any support to the agricultural programmes in their areas".
