The nine member-countries of the EEC decided last week to drop their plans to press for an upward revision of the gold price at this week's final meeting of the IMF's Committee of Twenty on international monetary reform. They will, however, continue to work on their tentative proposal to allow central banks to trade in gold among themselves at market-related prices.
