Post-Election Thinking Romesh Thapar THE reverberations of the recent elections are going to be felt for some time. At the moment, the reaction is amusing. The so-called situation- watchers are baffled that the Congress party has done so well in these wretched times, particularly in Orissa. As tor the Congress chieftains, they had given up Orissa for lost and concentrated on Uttar Pradesh; the UP result, considering the input of time, talent and finance, has proved very disappointing. All in all, Indira Gandhi can still pull the votes, but the magnet is beginning to lose its power.
