Government Lands for Cultivation-A Case Study of Maharashtra
A major programme of assistance to the weaker sections has been to make available to these people government lands for cultivation.
Since 1954 the Government of Maharashtra has distributed more than four lakh acres of land to a number of households all over the state. More in three-fourths of the distributed land has been brought under cultivation. However, the operational aspects of land distribution leave much to be desired and need comprehensive study.
