Shared Villainy THIS monograph, written by a journalist, has 'a promising title. The promise, however, remains largely unfulfilled The study is in two parts. In the first part, the news presentation and editorial comments in five English language dailies published from Delhi on five major national events during 1969- 71 are examined. The newspapers selected are The Hindustan Times, The Times of India, The Indian Express, The Statesman and Patriot. The events studied are the split in the Congress Party the nationalisation of banks, the Presidential election of 1969, the abolition of Privy Purses, and the Lok Sabha election in 1971.
