Well-Covered and Expanding

Well-Covered and Expanding Hansavivek CAMPHOR AND ALLIED PRODUCTS has negotiated with the state government of Meghalaya for forming a company in the joint sector with it to exploit the forest resources of that state. It is proposed to utilise cinnamon leaves, lemon grass, epicac roots, etc, which are found in abundance in the state, for manufacture of eugenol, lemongrass oil, emetine hydrochloride, vanillin and derivatives, and citral and derivatives. It is also intended to exploit the pine forest*, in the second phase, to establish a factory for manufacture of rosin and turpentine. The entire project,. in two phases, is estimated to cost Rs 50 lakhs, inclusive of fixed assets and working capital. The issued capital of the new company is expected to be around Rs 22 lakhs, of which Camphor will be required to invest Rs 9 lakhs. The essential oils and other chemicals manu factured by the new company will provide basic raw materials for certain perfumery chemicals in which Camphor is interested. Rosin and turpentine, to be manufactured in the second phase, are also raw materials for camphor and other products of the company.
