Diversification from Sound Base Hansavivek TATA CHEMICALS .expects to complete its current programme to expand the soda ash capacity to 360,000 tonnes per annum in early 1974 and has, meanwhile, received another 'letter of intent' to further expand capacity to 500,000 tonnes per annum. The company also expects early clearance of its application for the creation of additional caustic soda capacity and utilisation of co- produced chlorine towards the manufacture of phosphoric acid and phosphates of sodium Steps have already been taken to increase the capacity of refined sodium bicarbonate from 14,400 tonnes to 18,000 tonnes per annum. An application has been submitted for enlarging facilities for the design and manufacture of complete soda ash plants. The company reached an agreement in February last with the Gujarat government on the terms and conditions governing the lease of the Kalyanpur lands for the expansion of the salt works. Transfer of lands has been held up, however, pend ing completion of sonic procedural formalities.
