Mukand Iron- Elusive Feedstock

MUKAND Iron and Steel's chairman, Viren Shah, is understandably concerned about the underutilisation of capacity, present and future, in the electric are furnance industry, Mukand had idle capacity last year — a fact which is not brought into focus because of the excellent financial results partly due to production being weighted in favour of higher value products. The company is setting up another steelmaking unit at Kalwe at an estimated cost of Rs 2.2 crores.
